The self-leveling floor is made to call the ideal concrete surface, which is created with the help of cement and natural fillers with chemical additives. It is used as the basis for tiles, linoleum and parquet.

The main advantages of such sex include:
- excellent wear resistance;
- mechanical stress resistance;
- low shrink properties.
There are three main stages of creating a self-leveling band screed:
- surface preparation;
- selection and preparation of the solution;
- his fill.
Preparation of the foundation of the floor
It is worth noting that the use of such a screed is not always effective. It is appropriate to use it when pouring the surface with a drop of heights up to 2 cm. Otherwise, the price of the self-leveling band screed will be satisfied with high. Yes, and dry such a screed will be too long.
Preparatory work consists in cleaning the base from various garbage, dirt, dust and embedding available seams and cracks. Cracks that are characterized by active action are the greatest danger. Usually they appear on the bases covered with waterproofing material or insulation.
If the base cannot be converted, a mastic containing epoxy should be used for the extension of active cracks and seams. This work is:
- extending the cracks depth to 2 cm;
- carrying out perpendicular cuts to cracks (depth - up to 2 cm, length - 15 cm, width - 5 mm, distance between cuts - 25 cm);
- reinforcement of cuts with a wire with a thickness of 3 mm;
- they are filling with epoxy composition Ceresit CD 32.
The base with small cracks is expanded to a depth of 2 mm.
Next, the surface of the floor is processed by the primer Ceresit CT 17. The liquid must absorb well and dry completely (it will take approximately 3-4 hours). Checking the coating on waterproof is carried out by pouring a small amount of water in various parts of the floor. If the base is characterized by increased absorption fluid, priming the floor needs several times. A mixture of Thomsit RS 88 is used as materials for re-processing the surface.
The implementation of high-quality priming of the surface will prevent the occurrence of air bubbles on it when applying a self-leveling solution. The primer is carefully shaken, pours out on the floor and rubs into it with the help of brushes. The maximum impregnation of the surface will increase the effect of creating a self-leveling screed.
On the perimeter of the room, where the self-leveling tie of the floor will be made with their own hands, a damper tape of foamed polypropylene is pasted. Thus, cracks are not allowed in the created screed near the walls. Applying the level (preferably laser), the minimum and maximum base points are determined. The walls are conducted on the walls, which shows the height of laying the mixture.
Nuances of choice and preparation of a mixture for a screed
Many diverse information and video devoted to the tie of the floor by self-leveling mixture. The quality of the floor being created and its service life depends on the choice of the mixture. The selection of the material is based on:
- operational features of the room;
- stacked finish flooring.
A mixture of Ceresit CN 69 is the most optimal option for laying all popular finish flooring: ceramic tiles, laminate, linoleum and carpet. It applies and when creating a floor characterized by a 3D effect. Even the screed itself made from Ceresit CN 69 may be a finish coating.
The most suitable for rooms with high humidity are cement-mineral mixtures SILTEK F-50, POLIMIN LC-2, POLIREM SPN-511, Atlas Sam 200 and Ceresit CN 76, F-51. Despite the longer duration of their drying, the surface of the floor is obtained as strong as possible.
Those interested in the rapid frozen of the concrete surface (for 8 hours) and withstand tremendous loads, it is necessary to use Thomsit DG gypsum concrete mixtures. If a warm floor is planned, it is better to purchase a mixture of Ceresit CN 72 and the elastic emulsion Ceresit CC 83.
The process of cooking the mixture itself consists of completing two consecutive actions:
- the required amount of powder is poured into water;
- there is a thorough mixing of the mixture to a homogeneous mass.
It is not recommended to add water to a container with a mixture. It is so difficult to achieve a homogeneous mass for the fill of the floor.
The mixing of the mixture is more convenient to carry out with the help of a construction mixer. Creating a tie of the floor by self-leveling mixture is carried out immediately after its preparation. Otherwise, the liquid solution will begin to thicken and become unsuitable for use. Add water to the thickened solution is prohibited because the quality of the floor laying is reduced.
Creating a screed involves the following consumption of materials:
- mixtures - 1.5 kg / 1 m² with a layer thickness of 1 mm;
- waters - 6.5 l per 1 bag of mixture.
The solution should be as not too liquid (it will not create a solid coating) and not too thick (it will be spread).
Technology for creating a self-leveling floor
The crystallization of the mixture occurs within half an hour. Therefore, it is necessary very quickly:
- pour the floor with a solution;
- uniformly spatula to distribute it on the floor;
- we spend your needle roller on a bold mixture.
The fill is better to exercise together: one person is preparing a solution, the second - rolls it on the floor. Floor coating The mixture should be laid with a distance of 20-30 cm between them. Creating such a gap will allow the solution to spread correctly. The use of a needle roller helps destroy air bubbles that negatively affect the strength of the floor.
The thickness of the self-leveling screed should not exceed 4-5 mm. After the end of the fill, unnecessary pieces of damper tape are cut. Full drying of the floor is carried out over two weeks. Only after that you can engage in the styling of the finish flooring. Excessive hurry can lead to:
- violation of the integrity of the floor;
- the emergence of mold.
The need to use beacons
To increase the strength of the floor, you can use the reinforcing grid. This is especially true when pouring a weak surface. In this case, you will have to pour a thicker mixture layer (up to 1 cm), which will cover the grid.
This technology provides for the installation of lightweight rivers from the metal. The following works are manufactured:
- the maximum point of the floor surface is determined;
- it is marked by a beacon;
- using a laser level, lighthouses are set on the solution;
- the distance between them is 0.5 m;
- marking is applied to the walls.
Creating a self-leveling screed is made in the same sequence as described above. Removing beacons is carried out after complete drying of the screed. The recesses under them are flooded with a mixture and leveled with a rubber spatula.
Difficulties in working
In the process of filling the self-leveling mixture, the following problems may occur:
- poor spreading solution;
- its flowing through the threshold;
- the use of poor-quality needle roller.
The first problem is solved by using:
- rubber spatulas of various sizes;
- regulations;
- needle roller.
With their help, the mixture is neatly smoothed over the entire surface.
To prevent the solution leakage through the threshold, you should carefully make measurements of all parts of the floor in the room. There should be no "bugro", slopes and irregularities.
When choosing a needle roller, a needle-length should be guided. They are:
- high;
- short;
- medium size.
Roller with high needles is very effective for the "struggle" with air bubbles, but not suitable for normal leveling of the solution on the floor surface. Roller with short needles will also be difficult to quickly move the solution.
The most correct solution will be the use of rollers with medium-sized needles, which must exceed the level of fill with only 1-2 mm.
