One of the ways to achieve high-quality styling of the finishing flooring (linoleum, carpet, laminate, parquet) is the use of plywood as an intermediate material. With it, you can easily create a smooth and stable surface.

Properties of material
Being the least expensive floor finish, plywood is able to hide most of the uneven sections of a concrete base. In addition, it acts as a magnificent heat-insulating material.
Now the construction products market is filled with a wide range of plywood in size and texture. The most optimal option will be the use of a material that has a thickness of 10-15 mm. This plywood is highly resistant to any loads.
When it is elected, you should be guided by the following criteria:
- reliability and durability;
- effective resistance to deformation processes;
- long operational period.
Among the variety of impressive solutions in high demand laminated plywood. Due to the presence of the protective film, this material has a high moisture resistance. Which makes possible its use in any environment.
The main advantages of plywood include:
- high resistance to mechanical damage;
- the impossibility of the appearance of mold and mildew;
- environmentally friendly and harmless to humans.
Preparatory work
Before you go installing plywood sheets should measure the concrete floor. It must be perfectly flat. If there are height differences, which exceed 2 mm will require an additional pour coupler. Further work resumed after complete drying, the validity of which may exceed 45 days.
Check coupler for suitability for subsequent use in such a method are performed. On prepared screed is laid plastic film (size 1 * 1 m). Along the edges, she pressed against any object. After 2-3 days, it is checked for evaporation. If not, then you can proceed to the next step - cutting plywood.
plywood sheet has such a drawback as the presence of internal stress. For this reason, it is often the surface is not smooth. To avoid creating an uneven floor, plywood sheets must be cut into small square pieces. It is very convenient to work with the material dimensions of 0.75 * 0.75 * 0.6 m or 0.6 m. Due to the seams created between sheets of optimum humidity and temperature of the floor.
When cutting billets subjected to rigorous inspection. They must be whole, without bundles. The cut mini-sheet are displayed on the surface of the concrete foundation. Marked is the plywood, which must still be cut and fit to the specific areas of the room (niches, ledges, corners, etc.)
And fitting sheet provides for the following joint dimensions:
- 0.1-1 cm - between adjacent "squares";
- 1,5-2 cm - between the plywood and the wall.
When laying sheets of plywood on the photo and in practice do not fit together, and move a little. All four-seam must be in the same plane. After that, all the sheets are placed numbers, and they are removed from the concrete floor. Not to forget the location of square billets, numbered their locations should jot down on paper.
The choice of adhesive and primer floor
Laying plywood to the concrete floor is carried out with the help of special glue and dowel-nails. When purchasing glue, its specific features are taken into account. In particular, glue compositions are used to work with plywood:
- water based;
- on a solvent;
- based on two components.
The safest for a person is a water-based glue. When applied, it does not spread odor. Such glue is divorced by ordinary water and is used as a primer. The main minus composition on water based is a rather long drying period.
When using glue with solvent, you will have to additionally soak the primer concrete screed. Yes, and the composition is characterized by a rather sharp odor. But, on the other hand, it is enough to dry out only 3-5 days.
Staying plywood in the lowest time is possible when using two-component glue. Literally a day after this, you can engage in the floor grinding. In some cases, this composition in combination with epoxy primer can be used on a screed, which did not have time to dry.
In the case of a water-based glue or with a solvent, a mandatory plywood is made to a concrete surface with a dowel-nail. When two-component glue is used, it is not necessary to engage in additional fixation of plywood sheets.
As for the product manufacturers directly, it is better to use the adhesive compositions of Arthelit or Uzin to high-quality plywood laying.
Some people are skeptical to priming the surface for the subsequent installation of plywood. But the base is covered with the primer, because it is:
- eliminates small dust particles;
- makes the surface as strong as possible;
- improves adhesion properties;
- reduces the amount of glue used;
- prevents residual humidity.
The priming of a concrete base is carried out immediately before laying plywood sheets.
Installation of plywood sheets
Fastening plywood to the screed is made in such a sequence:
- placed the location of the holes in the concrete floor and in the square blank of plywood;
- in the concrete floor, holes under the dowels are drilled;
- the glue is evenly applied to the gel spatula;
- the plywood sheet is placed on the glue;
- it is rolled by a heavy roller;
- the plywood blank is additionally attached using self-tapping screws with dowels.
In the same way, the laying of all subsequent sheets of plywood occurs.
The thickness of the glue layer is in the range of 2-3 mm. Laying plywood sheets is carried out based on their numbering according to a previously invented scheme. The holes for the fasteners are created in 2 cm from the edge of the workpiece, and between them the distance should be 15-20 cm. The diameter of the holes should be of such a size so that when screwing the screw, its hat is blended.
Grinding of the surface
At the last stage of fastening the plywood sheets to the screed, surface grinding is carried out. For this purpose, a special grinding machine is used, equipped with a rough emery coating.
Sanding plywood provides for the creation of perfectly smooth and smooth floor. There should be no bursavires, sometimes appearing in the field of implementation of the exercise. Grinding also solves the problem of height difference, which may be between the billets.
To check the surface, the rack is used to 2 m long. Putting it on the created plywood floor, determine the presence of slots. If there is a small gap (up to 2 mm) from the lower part of the rail, then the work is performed efficiently. You can start the installation of the finishing floor covering.
