Distinctive features of decorative plaster

Using this finishing material, you can carry out various experiments with color shades and the texture of the surface being created. Application of plastic decorative plaster on the wall can be carried out by any person who has minimal skills in the implementation of finishing works.

In addition to these qualities, the benefits of decorative plaster include:

  • environmental friendliness;
  • moisture resistance;
  • excellent sound absorption;
  • frost resistance;
  • strength;
  • durability;
  • practicality;
  • the possibility of finishing uneven walls.

The technology of conducting preparatory work is largely similar to the preparation of the base under the sticking of wallpaper or staining of the walls. A distinctive feature is the unrequisite to eliminate too small surface defects and the creation of a perfect smooth wall. For this reason, the price of the preparation of walls under the plaster is reduced.

The main stages of surface preparation

At the initial stage, the walls are inspected for the presence of horizontal and vertical deviation. Deviations of brick and concrete walls are allowed at 1 cm.

Preparatory work include:

  • surface cleaning;
  • identifying sites that are susceptible to sickness;
  • climbing;
  • coating the base of the primer;
  • grinding wall;
  • applying the second layer of primer.

The surface on which the decorative plaster will be applied should be the perfect purity. An old coating is removed from the wall: wallpaper, paint or spacure. Using the construction vacuum cleaner, the surface is cleared of dust.

The removal of oil spots is better to produce a special solvent. After that, the walls are washed with a weak soap solution. The main thing is not to overdo it with the addition of soap into the water. Otherwise, the adhesion of the surface will worsen.

To reveal the sections, which after a while they can crumble, the purified wall should be very careful. This drawback is eliminated by one of two ways:

  • processed by primer solution, which has a firming or restoring effect;
  • there is a complete removal of a miserable layer.

The first option is suitable for sections of the walls, which are characterized by insufficient density and there is a high probability that the surface after some time will not turn. Processed section of the primer ACRYL-HIDROSOL or TiefGrund TV. In rooms with high humidity after drying the primer, the surface is additionally covered by antifungal agent.

The most acceptable way for miserable sections of the wall is to complete the removal of the coverage. After this work, the surface is cleaned from dust and dirt with a damp cloth.

Existing cracks are expanded by a grinder, cleaned and filled with putty. In the presence of bulk and deep slots, putty, which is the basis for decorative plaster, is applied in several layers. To prevent cracking of putty, you should use the self-adhesive sulfyan mesh.

After drying, the wall putty is covered with acrylic primer. The most optimal option is the primer of deep penetration, which will improve the adhesive properties of the surface. To prevent peak off peeping, it must be thoroughly soaked. Therefore, it is forbidden to use a putty, which has an oil-adhesive or alabaster base.

The next stage of the preparation of walls under the stucco involves grinding the base. For this use fine-grained sandpaper.

Many specialists strongly recommend using a special primer, which covers the wall immediately before applying decorative plaster. The technology of covering this primer provides for the following rules:

  • to create a homogeneous finish plaster coating, the thickness of the primer layer must exceed 2 cm;
  • the grout of the primer is accompanied by its compaction;
  • the implementation of the wet processing of the primed surface (3 times a day for the week).

Pre-applying plaster

Before applying decorative plaster, test surface treatment is made. It is desirable to produce in one of the corners of the wall. By covering a small section with a finishing material, a texture and color shade of the decorative coating created are considered.

If the technology of applying decorative plaster provides a combination of 2-3 shades, then the smooth transition between textural and smooth elements is created by using painting tape. First, there is a smooth plaster, and after the protection of the tape and the plastering sector is trimmed with a wall of texture plaster.
